Old Bay Bombers
The only junior roller derby league on the Eastern Shore, Salisbury Roller Girls Old Bay Bombers is dedicated to bringing the exciting sport of roller derby to girls and boys ages 8 to 17 years old. Providing opportunities for skaters of all skill levels to learn and play in a fun, safe and supportive environment is our goal.
Because roller derby is considered an extreme youth sport, SRG OBB prioritizes safety, with mandated protective equipment and high training standards for coaches and volunteers. OBB aims to empower our skaters by bringing together girls and boys from diverse communities and helping develop their self-confidence, leadership skills, healthy decision-making, athleticism, and overall fitness.

Basics & Beginners - Level 1
All those new to skating will start in Level 1 Basic & Beginners sessions. These classes are once a week on Sunday 4:30 – 6 p.m. and will start by covering basic skating form, stops, starts, and safe falls. Skaters will then start learning to skate in partnerships and in packs. At the end of each session, there will be a skills assessment to determine whether or not skaters are ready to move onto Level 2.
Intermediate Skaters - Level 2
Those who pass the Level 1 skills assessment are able to move on to Level 2. These classes are once a week on Sunday 4:30 – 6 p.m. Skaters will learn light contact (positional blocking, lean-outs, hitting form). At the end of each session, there will be a skills assessment to determine whether or not skaters are ready to move onto Level 3.
Advanced Skaters - Level 3
Skaters who have passed their Level 2 skills assessments are eligible to advance to Level 3. Skaters will be trained in all aspects of full contact derby. Participants MUST be age 12 and above to participate in Level 3 practices and scrimmages.
Scrimmages and Bouting
Full contact junior skaters will need to pass the JRDA skills assessment in order to be allowed to scrimmage. They will need to pass the WFTDA minimum skills assessment to participate in full contact bouts.
The safety of our members is our #1 priority. Our safety staff has also been trained in CPR, First Aid and to recognize the signs and symptoms of concussions.
There is a possibility, as with any sport, of your skater suffering an injury. If your child is hurt or injured during practice, our trained safety staff will assess your child and administer first aid as necessary. Any skater, who exhibits any signs, symptoms, or behavior consistent with a concussion, shall be immediately removed from play and practice until they are cleared to return by a healthcare professional.
